Ever since the day I got the honor to become the Mayor of Karaburun, I felt uneasy at the idea that Karaburun City, though being one of the oldest municipalities of Turkey, didn’t have its own web site. Indeed, not having a proper web site would be unthinkable for a city which strives to get its own little place on the world scene as a “Nature and Culture Paradise” and which tries to catch up with modern times. This embarrassment resulted into the creation of the web site you are now visiting. This web site is meant to belong not only to the people of Karaburun, but also to all those who have a heart for this city, wherever they come from in the world.

This web site was made with a special eye for easy access to all kinds of services and with special attention for a direct and friendly contact. More importantly, it was made with the conviction to offer a model of municipality management, open for sharing and contributions. We thus hope that your input will benefit the development of our city, our region and our Peninsula. The present web site gives us the possibility to be informed and to communicate at any time and wherever we are. This web site will always be open to criticism, contributions and sharing.

For those newcomers, coming from various countries like i.e. Norway, Germany, Belgium, France, Holland etc., and who all try very hard to learn Turkish, an English and German version of this web site is offered. Be doing so, we want to prove that we wish to equally serve all the people living in Karaburun.

Our web site aims at offering a number of direct services as well as interesting information about the Karaburun region. The photo galleries will give you a pretty good idea about the beauty of the Karaburun Peninsula. We will keep on extending them.

Hamza Serdar YASA

Born on 15.03.1957 in Karaburun, he attended Primary and Secundary School at Karaburun (1971) and High School at the Izmir Atatürk Lisesi – Mathematics Department (1974).

He graduated as Chemical Engineer from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara (1983).

His spouse, Ms.Mukadder Yasa, (1959) is lecturer at the Department of Pharmacology of the Faculty of Pharmacology of the Aegean University in Izmir.

Professional career: worked at MOPAK A.Ş. as Production engineer (March 1986-October 1987), at POLİNAS A.Ş. (October 1987-September 2000) as Production engineer (1987-1991), Head of Production (1991-1995), Production Director (1995-1997), Production and Project Director (1997-2000). From February 2001 on Serdar Yasa worked with SAF PLASTIK A.Ş., where he successively became Plant Director (2001-2002) and Technical Assistant to the General Manager (2002-2004).

His expertise comprises technical and senior management in the field of paper used for flexible packing material, polypropylene, cast polypropylene, polyethylene film production and vacuum metalization, coating and printing techniques for the production of high added value products.

During the last 10 years he was responsible for the implementation of investments and projects amounting a total value of 25.000.000 US$. As such he was in charge of the buying of buildings, machinery and technical equipment, selection of technical staff, installation and operating of production chains, as well as the supervision of a quality production.

During the performance of these duties he collaborated with official instances such as local authorities, management boards of industrial zones, Chambers of Architects and Engineers and others for the obtainment of various necessary permits.

Being very often abroad for his work,

Mr. Yasa had the opportunity to study various management systems in foreign countries.
