
The
Karaburun Municipality is making great efforts to serve the people of
Karaburun within the framework of its legal obligations and the personnel
it is employing. Routine services like clean-up and garbage collection,
Urban planning services, drinking water and health services are carried
out with a maximum of discipline. However the Municipality has also
carried out a number of other works, it would like to bring to the
attention of the people of Karaburun.
A
general cleaning-up of the city has been started including the city
center, the city park and the area’s below, the city streets and the
beaches. Children’s playgrounds have been repaired and painted.
Water
wells and cisterns have been examined and the breakdown and deficiency
problems identified in order to start solving the problems. A list has
been drawn of the water service consumers who hadn’t paid the water bills
and the collection of the due fees has been started with.
A
meeting has been held with the Transporters Co-Operatives of both
Karaburun and Mordogan in order to discuss and find solutions for the
tourism demands regarding transportation of persons. The service schedules
of the busses and other general rules have been reminded and adapted to
the needs. It has been agreed upon to install “express” journeys as well
as an office at the coach terminal of Üçkuyular in
Izmir. With regards to the future, a proposal has been made to the
Transporters Co-Operative for the investment in maritime passenger
transport between the Peninsula and Izmir.
In
the fight against mosquito’s and other insects, support has been obtained
from the Metropolitan Municipality of Izmir. The breeding spots have been
identified and an effective pest control is being applied.
In
order to make gather the people of Karaburun and to bring more tourists to
Karaburun, two feasts have been organized, i.e. the Spring feast at the
old Çullu village and the First Karaburun Summer Festival.
A
delegation of 12 persons, comprising the mayors of the Greek
island of
Chios has been received in order to discuss exchange
possibilities in the field of tourism.
The
old refuse bins have been repaired and painted and new refuse bins
distributed.
The
purification stations have been revised and their capacity increased. The
construction of a sewer system is going on.
Plans
for the infrastructures and accommodation of the beaches have been drawn
and are being implemented. The requirements of the Blue Flag beaches have
been fulfilled and the beaches of Bodrum and Incirlikoy have been equipped
with the Blue Flag.
Efforts
are being continued to solve the problem of car parking, which especially
during the summer months takes important proportions.
