The Karaburun Peninsula has 13 villages of which 5 are administrated by the Karaburun Municipality. The villages are quite different one from the other with regards to their culture and natural scenery. Two of them (Ambarseki and Saip) lie on the East-coast, while the other three (Bozköy, Tepeboz and Haseki) lie on the West-coast. The fishermen village of Yeniliman is administratively depending from the village of Tepeboz. This little port is certainly worth a visit.

Small scale agriculture, goat and sheep breeding, flower cultivation and olive growth are economical activities common to these 5 villages. The villagers of Saip, Tepeboz and Yeniliman are also doing some fishing.

According to the records, all five villages have quite an old history. But, due to the compulsory population exchange in 1923, when, as a result of the Lausanne Treaty, the Orthodox Greek population was forced to leave Turkey (and vice versa for the Turks living in Greece and the Greek islands), as well as the emigration of its younger population due to lack of job opportunities, the population of the villages has dropped dramatically over the last 80 years.

Though administratively they don’t  exist any more, one can still see the ruins of what once were the villages of Çullu, Hisarcik and Manastir (Kalecik). The Karaburun Municipality has developed a project for the restoration of the old mosque of Çullu.
